About This Spot

Nick-A-Nees unfolds like a quiet gem tucked into the South Providence neighborhood—an unpretentious bar where the pulse is steady, and the vibe invites you to settle in without hurry. The moment you step inside, a sense of ease takes hold, as if you’ve drifted into a familiar haunt where the focus is on good company, a well-crafted drink, and the steady hum of conversation punctuated by live music.

This is a place that wears its low-key nature proudly, a haven from the rush of everyday life. The pace here is relaxed and welcoming, inviting you to lean back at the bar or gather around a well-worn pool table with friends old and new. The crowd is a mix of longtime locals and curious newcomers — a diverse blend that feels both lively and laid-back, drawing people from different walks of life together with a shared appetite for easy-going evenings.

Music at Nick-A-Nees is more than background noise; it’s woven into the fabric of the experience. Whether it’s a bluegrass night outdoors or a spontaneous jam session, the live sounds bring a familiar warmth that resonates across all age groups and makes the atmosphere feel like home. It’s the kind of place where you might find a local band playing while a dog snoozes nearby, underscoring the neighborhood’s friendly, inclusive spirit.

Drinks here fit the mood perfectly — cocktails that have a thoughtful edge, like a smooth espresso martini or a bright margarita that cuts through the relaxed vibe with just the right burst of flavor. The food, too, echoes that balance between comfort and a little spark — small plates and tacos that speak to shared moments without fuss or pretense.

What feels most authentic about Nick-A-Nees is how it navigates the space between being a neighborhood gathering spot and a cultural touchstone, where music and conversation intertwine effortlessly. It’s a reminder that sometimes the best nights are the ones where you show up without much planned, settle into the easy rhythm of a local bar, and find yourself carried by the warmth of the room and the hum of human connection.

Fun, low key bar. Good entertainment schedule. Has some off street parking. One busy pool table. Has food available, but did not order anything.

For several decades a low key, fun bar to catch friends performing at. Probably stop by a half dozen times a year. Recent photos with Dr Bruce Watson and friends.

Dog friendly neighborhood bar that serves up some good food and has a relaxing atmosphere. Great bar to listen to bluegrass music on Wednesday nights.

Nick-A-Nees has always been one of my favorite music venues. They attract a diverse and interesting clientele. And they allow dogs. The outdoor live music event last night was ridiculously good. It was good to be home.

Local bar for live music and drinks. Wide variety of interesting people of all ages. Good Music. Favorite for me is Bluegrass on Wednesdays. Nothing fancy but good place to enjoy the music and a cold one.

This dive bar is great. It houses a pool table, live bands, friendly bar tenders and yummy drinks. Last night a band Slow Boat Home played, it was a cool variety of Americana and juke joint blues. Great match with the atmosphere.
